This week Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Speaker of the House, said that we are in WW III. Are we?

His comments, as reported by WorldNetDaily:

"We're in the early stages of what I would describe as the Third World War and, frankly, our bureaucracy's not responding fast enough and we don't have the right attitude. And this is the 58th year of the war to destroy Israel and, frankly, the Israelis have every right to insist that every single missile leave south Lebanon, and the United States ought to be helping the Lebanese government have the strength to eliminate Hezbollah as a military force – not as a political force in the parliament – but as a military force in south Lebanon."

NBC host Tim Russert asked him, "This is World War III?"

Gingrich replied: "I believe if you take all the countries I just listed that you've been covering, put them on a map, look at all the different connectivity, you have to say to yourself: this is, in fact, World War III."

Consider:

- The war on terror has a world-wide impact
- Terrorist attacks are increasing around the world
- America is still a target - a recent plot to attack NY tunnels was uncovered
- No. Korea and Iran are defiant regarding gaining nuclear power
- No. Koreas is vocal in its rhetoric regarding America as their enemy
- Radical Muslims say they are planning a 2nd holocaust of the Jews
- Anti-America, anti-Israel rhetoric and threats are escalating
- Israel is at war with Hezbollah, which is sponsored by Iran and Syria

Over the last several months:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, warned that the West will suffer if it tries to stop their nuclear efforts, and that the United States will face "harm and pain" if the Security Council becomes involved. Which it did. He said, "They know that they are not capable of causing the least harm to Iranian people. They will suffer more."

Then unashamedly displaying his attitude toward Israel, Ahmadinejad said that Israel "must be wiped off the map" while addressing "The World Without Zionism" conference.

Despite international disapproval of Ahmadinejad's public comments, he remained defiant and mass public demonstrations were held in Tehran to show support for the country's president and his statements, chanting "deal to Israel, death to America" and burning Israeli and American flags. Did you know that "Jerusalem Day - the last Friday of the Muslim Ramadan 'holy' month - is a day they annually call for the destruction of Israel?

Do we understand...no believe... the strong conviction of radical Islam to 1) destroy Israel; 2) destroy the 'great Satan' America; 3) and take over the world?

We may not be at the beginning of WW III now, but if we don't win the individual battles in this war on terror, there's no doubt that there will be a WW III.

And we have to remember that passivity or 'restraint' or giving up land in the name of peace never prevents the aggression of world dictators or fanatic terrorists. It never has, it never will.
