Taking Iran's Threats Seriously

WorldNetDaily just reported that Iran believes Israel will strike their Tehran nuclear facilities within a year, that it is "highly coordinated with America," and thus is planning retaliatory attacks "... against Israeli, American and British interests, according to senior Lebanese political sources. The sources, speaking to WorldNetDaily on condition of anonymity, said Iran believes Israel has been practicing raids in Iraq. They said Tehran has held a series of meetings with leaders of the Hezbollah terror group – based along Lebanon's border with Israel – about attacking the Jewish state in the event of any Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear sites."

Hezbollah, the 'Party of God', and the main political party of the Shia community, follows the teachings of Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Islamic revolution in Iran. It is a Lebanese terrorist group which was founded to fight what they consider the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon, with the aid of Iran. Hezbollah "boasts of over 10,000 missiles pointed at the country's civilian population centers."
Officially, Israel denies plans of military action against Iran, however, Israeli Knesset Member, Effie Eitam said, "It is crucial to change Israel's current policy of vagueness to open deterrence. It needs to be made clear to the Iranians that Israel will not be the only country destroyed if it is attacked. Even if the Iranians have weapons, they wont enjoy any strategic advantage because Israeli deterrence will be clear and credible. They wont even think about destroying Israel because doing so will place them under the fear of being totally destroyed, too."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's president, following numerous statements against the state of Israel over the last few months, including that Israel "should be wiped off the map," warned last month that the West will suffer if it tries to stop their nuclear efforts, and that the United States will face "harm and pain" if the UN Security Council becomes involved.

"They know that they are not capable of causing the least harm to Iranian people," Ahmadinejad said. "They will suffer more."

Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, has said that Ahmadinejad sounds like Hitler sounded before the holocaust.

Will we take such a threat more seriously this time?
